Markets flat; ONGC down 1.5%, Cipla up 3.4%

Indian markets continue to tradeflat towards closing on Monday. Realty, healthcare and PSU stocks traded higher, while capital goods, ITand technology stocks declined. At 2.14 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 18.25 points or 0.09% at 19,503.02 with 15 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 4.60 points or 0.08% at 5,908.10 with 25 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 32.82 points or 0.17% at 19,517.59, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 16.55 points or 0.28%, at 5,920.05.
Sensex Movers
Reliance Industries contributed rise of 19.53 points in the Sensex. It was followed by H D F C Bank (15.91 points), Hindustan Unilever (12.51 points), Tata Motors (11.18 points) and Sterlite Industries (India) (4.38 points).
However, I T C contributed fall of 14.42 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (12.63 points), I C I C I Bank (11.24 points), Larsen & Toubro (9.36 points) and Tata Consultancy Services (5.35 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Cipla (3.36%), Dr Reddy's Laboratories (2.54%), Sterlite Industries (India) (2.22%), Hindustan Unilever (2.14%), Hindalco Industries (2.14%), and Tata Motors (1.79%).
On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.53%), Maruti Suzuki India (1.52%), Hero Motocorp (0.99%), Larsen & Toubro (0.95%), Bharti Airtel (0.73%), and I T C (0.73%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Sectors in Limelight
The Realty index was at 2,184.19, up by 31.44 points or by 1.46%. The major gainers were Oberoi Realty (4.44%), Indiabulls Real Estate (2.11%), Housing Development and Infrastructure (2.04%), D L F (1.57%) and Godrej Properties (0.19%).
The HC index was at 7,940.09, up by 65.67 points or by 0.83%. The major gainers were Cipla (3.36%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (2.54%), Divis Laboratories (1.03%), Piramal Enterprises (0.22%) and Aurobindo Pharma (0.08%).
The Metal index was at 10,115.42, up by 48.89 points or by 0.49%. The major gainers were Hindalco Industries (2.14%), Sesa Goa (1.83%), Hindustan Zinc (0.36%), NMDC (0.14%) and JSW Steel (0.04%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,261 advances against 1,481 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Apollo Hospitals Enterprise topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 5,354.61 million. It was followed by State Bank Of India (Rs. 413.17 million), M M T C (Rs. 324.38 million) and I C I C I Bank (Rs. 303.46 million).
The volume chart was led by Apollo Hospitals Enterprise with trades of over 6.41 million shares. It was followed by Suzlon Energy (5.21 million), Cals Refineries (2.65 million) and Aadhaar Ventures India (2.31 million).
