Sensex trades flat; inflation data eyed

Indian markets are trading marginally lower in early trade on Friday. At 09.19 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 17.37 points or 0.09% at 19,211.89 with 10 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 4.40 points or 0.08% at 5,847.10 with 17 components falling.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened flat with a decline of 11.30 points or 0.06% at 19,217.96, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 4.60 points or 0.08%, at 5,846.90.
Sensex Movers
I T C contributed fall of 21.95 points
in the Sensex. It was followed by Reliance Industries (7.68
points), I C I C I Bank (3.99 points), Tata Motors (3.68 points)
and Hindustan Unilever (3.6 points).
However, Larsen & Toubro contributed rise of 6.29 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Mahindra & Mahindra (2.59 points), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.07 points), Maruti Suzuki India (1.78 points) and Grasim Industries (1.63 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Maruti Suzuki India (0.70%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.61%), G A I L (India) (0.59%), Larsen & Toubro (0.58%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.57%), and Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.53%).
On the other hand, I T C (1.14%), Tata Motors (0.59%), Hindustan Unilever (0.54%), Sterlite Industries (India) (0.46%), Reliance Industries (0.44%), and Hindalco Industries (0.30%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.24% and 0.20% respectively. The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were A B G Shipyard (0.87%), Anant Raj (0.71%), Aban Offshore (0.53%), Amtek Auto (0.42%) and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (0.3%).The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Aanjaneya Lifecare (4.13%), Styrolution ABS (India) (1.29%), Adhunik Metaliks (1.1%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (0.73%) and Ahluwalia Contracts (India) (0.28%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Realty index was at 2,062.26, up by 15.72 points or by 0.77%. The major gainers were Indiabulls Real Estate (1.47%), Parsvnath Developers (1.25%), D L F (0.91%), Anant Raj (0.71%) and D B Realty (0.38%).
The Capital Goods index was at 10,988.49, up by 61.16 points or by 0.56%. The major gainers were Alstom T&D India (0.63%), Larsen & Toubro (0.58%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.53%), Havell'S India (0.48%) and BEML (0.19%).
The HC index was at 8,040.15, up by 34.92 points or by 0.44%. The major gainers were Cadila Healthcare (0.72%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.57%), Cipla (0.44%), Biocon (0.44%) and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (0.3%).
On the other hand, the FMCG index was at 5,927.04, down by 43.51 points or by 0.73%. The major losers were I T C (1.14%), Nestle India (0.92%), Hindustan Unilever (0.54%), Tata Global Beverages (0.15%) and United Spirits (0.04%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was positive with 507 advances against 280 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Jet Airways (India) topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 77.82 million. It was followed by Kingfisher Airlines (Rs. 62.30 million), Karnataka Bank , The (Rs. 60.18 million) and United Spirits (Rs. 23.57 million).
The volume chart was led by Kingfisher Airlines with trades of over 3.80 million shares. It was followed by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision (0.97 million), Adinath Bio-Labs (0.88 million) and Karnataka Bank , The (0.39 million).
