Sensex gains 84 points in early trade

Indian equities gained in early trade on Tuesday. At 09.19 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 83.37 points or 0.45% at 18,422.37 with 25 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 28.10 points or 0.50% at 5,599.50 with 41 components gaining.

The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 83.69 points or 0.46% at 18,422.69, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 33.40 points or 0.60%, at 5,604.80.

Sensex Movers

Housing Development Finance Corporation contributed rise of 18.44 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Motors (9.58 points), Larsen & Toubro (8.09 points), Tata Consultancy Services (7.45 points) and I C I C I Bank (7.4 points).

However, Infosys contributed fall of 3.67 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Grasim Industries (2.81 points), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.95 points), Hindustan Unilever (0.77 points) and NTPC (0.1 points).

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Motors (1.61%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.31%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.08%), Tata Steel (1.00%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.83%), and Maruti Suzuki India (0.83%).

On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.29%), Infosys (0.27%), Hindustan Unilever (0.12%), Bajaj Auto (0.11%), and NTPC (0.03%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

Sectors in Limelight

The IPO index was at 1,782.75, up by 19.56 points or by 1.11%. The major gainers were Future Ventures India (2.61%), Claris Lifesciences (2.4%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (1.48%), Flexituff International (1.02%) and A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (0.84%).

The Realty index was at 1,907.99, up by 18.42 points or by 0.97%. The major gainers were Godrej Properties (2.82%), D B Realty (1.98%), Anant Raj Industries (1.05%), Indiabulls Real Estate (0.93%) and D L F (0.59%).

The Auto index was at 10,596.81, up by 88.79 points or by 0.84%. The major gainers were Maruti Suzuki India (0.83%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.79%), Exide Industries (0.79%), Ashok Leyland (0.38%) and Hero Motocorp (0.23%).

The Metal index was at 9,863.33, up by 70.07 points or by 0.72%. The major gainers were Hindustan Zinc (0.67%), Jindal Steel & Power (0.63%), Hindalco Industries (0.6%), JSW Steel (0.57%) and Coal India (0.4%).

Market Breadth

Market breadth was positive with 642 advances against 156 declines.

Value and Volume Toppers

Zylog Systems topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 56.45 million. It was followed by L&T Finance Holdings (Rs. 51.42 million), United Spirits (Rs. 37.82 million) and State Bank Of India (Rs. 36.64 million).

The volume chart was led by Zylog Systems with trades of over 0.82 million shares. It was followed by Teledata Technology Solutions (0.80 million), L&T Finance Holdings (0.69 million) and Reliance Communications (0.12 million).
