Indian marketsgained in earlytrade on Friday. At 09.19 a.m., the
Sensex was trading up 145.46 points or 0.78% at 18,707.16 with 30
components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by
42.25 points or 0.75% at 5,687.30 with 50 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of
130.45 points or 0.70% at 18,692.15, while the broad based NSE
Nifty started with a rise of 51.30 points or 0.91%, at
I T C contributed rise of 20.98 points
in the Sensex. It was followed by I C I C I Bank (17.04 points),
Reliance Industries (11.46 points), Larsen & Toubro (10.46
points) and H D F C Bank (9.17 points).
However, Reliance Communications contributed fall of 0.85 points
in the Sensex. It was followed by Grasim Industries (1.08 points),
Bharti Airtel (1.19 points), D L F (1.35 points) and ACC (1.36
All shares in the Sensex settled with gains. Major were Mahindra
& Mahindra (1.62%), Wipro (1.44%), Bharat Heavy Electricals
(1.41%), Hindalco Industries (1.25%), I C I C I Bank (1.16%), and I
T C (1.13%).
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps underperformed their larger
counterparts gaining 0.58% and 0.64% respectively.The major gainers
in the BSE Midcap were Allahabad Bank(0.95%), CORE Education and
Technologies (0.86%), Amtek Auto (0.49%), Aban Offshore (0.41%) and
Amara Raja Batteries (0.4%).The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap
were Adhunik Metaliks (1.5%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering
Services (1.25%), Action Construction Equipment (1.21%), Aarti
Industries (0.32%) and Styrolution ABS (India) (0.18%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Realty index was at 1,823.82, up by 20.43 points or by
1.13%. The major gainers were D B Realty (1.54%), Indiabulls Real
Estate (1.49%), D L F (1.25%), Anant Raj Industries (0.94%) and
Godrej Properties (0.45%).
The Auto index was at 10,645.05, up by 111.42 points or by
1.06%. The major gainers were Ashok Leyland (1.91%), Exide
Industries (0.95%), Hero Motocorp (0.94%), Bajaj Auto (0.62%) and
Bharat Forge (0.6%).
The Capital Goods index was at 11,029.41, up by 104.86 points or
by 0.96%. The major gainers were Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.41%),
BEML (0.97%), Crompton Greaves (0.69%), Havell'S India (0.43%) and
A B B (0.03%).
On the other hand, the Consumer Durables index was at 7,318.91,
down by 4.93 points or by 0.07%. The major losers were Titan
Market breadth was positive with 718 advances against 142
Value and Volume Toppers
Excel Crop Care topped the value chart on the BSE with a
turnover of Rs. 39.48 million. It was followed by Wipro (Rs. 35.82
million), State Bank Of India (Rs. 30.17 million) and United
Spirits (Rs. 22.89 million).
The volume chart was led by Kingfisher Airlines with trades of
over 0.55 million shares. It was followed by Lanco Infratech (0.35
million), Usha Martin (0.20 million) and Apollo Tyres (0.19
