Indian equities are likely to open flat on Tuesday, Oct. 30,
2012. SGX Nifty is trading at 5,701 (07.47 a.m.), 1 points lower
than Monday"s closeof 5,702.
Asia stocks rose modestly on Tuesday with investors reacting to
some local earnings as a massive storm kept U.S. traders away from
their desks Monday. Japanese benchmark index Nikkei 225 rose 29.84
points, or 0.33%, to trade at 8,959.18.
Oil prices dropped on Monday as refineries and oil terminals on
the US East Coast shut down due to Hurricane Sandy, which bore down
on the heavily industrial New Jersey coastline. New York's main
contract, WTI light sweet crude for delivery in December, shed 74
cents from Friday's price to USD 85.54 a barrel. In London, Brent
North Sea crude for December fell 11 cents to USD 109.44 a barrel
in London morning deals.
European stocks dropped on Monday as Hurricane Sandy headed
toward New York City, prompting the U.S. to suspend equity trading
on all markets. UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 declined 11.61
points, or 0.20%, to end at 5,795.10.
