Sensex rises 86 pts in early trade

Indian markets gained in early trade on Monday snapping earlier losses. At 09.20 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 85.94 points or 0.46% at 18,711.28 with 26 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 23.75 points or 0.42% at 5,688.05 with 43 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 30.66 points or 0.16% at 18,656, while the broad based NSE Nifty began flat with a gain of 0.90 points or 0.02%, at 5,665.20.
Sensex Movers
Reliance Industries contributed rise of
21.52 points in the Sensex. It was followed by I T C (19.26
points), I C I C I Bank (5.74 points), Tata Motors (5.43 points)
and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (4.59 points).
However, Hindustan Unilever contributed fall of 2.59 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Infosys (1.81 points), Sterlite Industries (India) (1.36 points), Reliance Infrastructure (0.57 points) and Reliance Communications (0.17 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (1.25%), Wipro (1.23%), I T C (1.05%), Tata Power Company (1.00%), Tata Motors (0.90%), and Tata Steel (0.88%).
On the other hand, Sterlite Industries (India) (0.74%), Hindustan Unilever (0.35%), Infosys (0.13%), and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.01%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps underperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.27% and 0.25% respectively.The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were CORE Education and Technologies (1.11%), Aban Offshore (1.1%), Alstom India (0.66%), Amara Raja Batteries (0.35%) and Amtek Auto (0.26%).The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Trident (2.27%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (0.83%), Reliance MediaWorks (0.83%), Adhunik Metaliks (0.33%) and Advanta India (0.19%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Oil & Gas index was at 8,449.47, up by 54.91 points or by 0.65%. The major gainers were Gujarat State Petronet (0.92%), Cairn India (0.63%), G A I L (India) (0.3%), Indian Oil Corporation (0.19%) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (0.03%).
The Realty index was at 1,808.31, up by 7.98 points or by 0.44%. The major gainers were Godrej Properties (0.8%), D L F (0.79%), Phoenix Mills (0.68%), Indiabulls Real Estate (0.58%) and Anant Raj Industries (0.18%).
The Auto index was at 10,334.24, up by 44.49 points or by 0.43%. The major gainers were Cummins India (0.92%), Exide Industries (0.69%), Hero Motocorp (0.67%), Ashok Leyland (0.65%) and Bajaj Auto (0.3%).
On the other hand, the FMCG index was at 5,719.88, down by 4.24 points or by 0.07%. The major losers were United Spirits (4.1%), United Breweries (1.67%), Dabur India (1.08%), Colgate-Palmolive (India) (0.9%) and Hindustan Unilever (0.35%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was positive with 623 advances against 232 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Intellivate Capital Ventures -PPS topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 0.00 million. It was followed by Hatsun Agro Product (Rs. 141.45 million), United Spirits (Rs. 98.17 million) and Kingfisher Airlines (Rs. 45.62 million).
The volume chart was led by Kingfisher Airlines with trades of over 3.82 million shares. It was followed by Cals Refineries (2.44 million), Hatsun Agro Product (1.63 million) and Lanco Infratech (0.39 million).
