Sensex falls 44 pts in early trade

Indian equities dropped in early trade on Friday erasing earlier gains. At 09.17 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 44.15 points or 0.23% at 18,747.78 with 22 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 15.40 points or 0.27% at 5,703.30 with 39 components falling.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a decline of 23.93 points or 0.13% at 18,768, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 15.40 points or 0.27%, at 5,703.30.
Sensex Movers
Reliance Industries contributed fall of
7.22 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Housing Development
Finance Corporation (7.15 points), H D F C Bank (6.76 points), Tata
Consultancy Services (4.97 points) and Bharti Airtel (4.92
points).
However, Infosys contributed rise of 4.3 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Wipro (1.36 points), I C I C I Bank (1.34 points), I T C (0.63 points) and ACC (0.51 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.57%), Wipro (0.53%), Infosys (0.31%), Bajaj Auto (0.25%), Cipla (0.15%), and Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.10%).
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel (1.20%), Hindustan Unilever (0.57%), State Bank Of India (0.56%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.55%), Tata Steel (0.53%), and Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.53%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market BreadthMarket breadth was positive with 410 advances against 290 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Hatsun Agro Product topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 308.58 million. It was followed by L I C Housing Finance (Rs. 289.43 million), United Spirits (Rs. 19.47 million) and State Bank Of India (Rs. 17.91 million).
The volume chart was led by Hatsun Agro Product with trades of over 3.43 million shares. It was followed by L I C Housing Finance (1.15 million), ISMT (0.21 million) and Kingfisher Airlines (0.21 million).
