Sensex rises 44 pts in early trade

Indian marketsgained in early trade on Thursday. At 09.19 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 43.76 points or 0.24% at 18,654.53 with 24 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 12.55 points or 0.22% at 5,672.80 with 43 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 42.83 points or 0.23% at 18,653.60, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 15.05 points or 0.27%, at 5,675.30.
Sensex Movers
I C I C I Bank contributed rise of
12.22 points in the Sensex. It was followed by I T C (11.14
points), Housing Development Finance Corporation (6.31 points),
Tata Motors (3.87 points) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation
(3.74 points).
However, Infosys contributed fall of 9.78 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Bharti Airtel (6.62 points), Wipro (1.08 points), Reliance Communications (1.07 points) and Grasim Industries (1.04 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were I C I C I Bank (0.86%), Tata Power Company (0.77%), Tata Motors (0.64%), I T C (0.61%), Hindalco Industries (0.60%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (0.59%).
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel (1.63%), Infosys (0.71%), Wipro (0.42%), Jindal Steel & Power (0.30%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.30%), and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.06%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.32% and 0.33% respectively. The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were A I A Engineering (2.7%), CORE Education and Technologies (0.46%), A B G Shipyard (0.45%), Alstom India (0.37%) and Aban Offshore (0.35%).The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Trident (1.47%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.3%), Styrolution ABS (India) (1.16%), Advanta India (0.87%) and Reliance MediaWorks (0.32%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Realty index was at 1,821.03, up by 10.24 points or by 0.57%. The major gainers were Anant Raj Industries (1.97%), Indiabulls Real Estate (1.33%), D L F (0.95%), Parsvnath Developers (0.74%) and Housing Development and Infrastructure (0.29%).
The Auto index was at 10,252.93, up by 53.13 points or by 0.52%. The major gainers were Bharat Forge (0.69%), Ashok Leyland (0.64%), Cummins India (0.62%), Bajaj Auto (0.47%) and Hero Motocorp (0.43%).
The Power index was at 2,034.31, up by 9.24 points or by 0.46%. The major gainers were Adani Power (1.02%), Reliance Infrastructure (0.75%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.47%), A B B (0.42%) and Crompton Greaves (0.19%).
On the other hand, the TECk index was at 3,302.36, down by 6.8 points or by 0.21%. The major losers were Mphasis (1.82%), Bharti Airtel (1.63%), Idea Cellular (1.54%), Infosys (0.71%) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (0.53%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was positive with 610 advances against 172 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
United Spirits topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 34.96 million. It was followed by State Bank Of India (Rs. 29.38 million), United Breweries (Holdings) (Rs. 24.02 million) and TV18 Broadcast (Rs. 21.08 million).
The volume chart was led by TV18 Broadcast with trades of over 0.69 million shares. It was followed by Cals Refineries (0.42 million), H M T (0.35 million) and Kingfisher Airlines (0.29 million).
