Sensex ends marginally higher; CD, CG, FMCG lead

Indian markets ended the volatile session on a flat note led by consumer durables, capital goods and auto stocks.Asper the provisional figures on 3.30 pm,the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 19.87 pointsor 0.11% at 18,597.57 with 16 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 12.25 or 0.22% at 5,660.25 with 27 components posting rise.Sensex Movers
Housing Development Finance Corporation contributed rise of 16.32 points in the Sensex. It was followed by ITC (15.99 points), Larsen & Toubro (14.13 points), ICICI Bank (7.32 points) and Infosys (7.31 points).
However, Reliance Industries contributed fall of 22.28 points in the Sensex. It was followed by HDFC Bank (9.32 points), Tata Consultancy Services (8.15 points), State Bank Of India (5.39 points) and DLF (3.76 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Power Company (2.07%), Larsen & Toubro (1.32%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.22%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.92%), ITC (0.88%), and Tata Motors (0.80%).
On the other hand, GAIL (India) (1.95%), Reliance Industries (1.30%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.98%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.91%), State Bank Of India (0.76%), and HDFC Bank (0.67%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Midcap settled lower 2.58 points or 0.32% at 6,630.43 however the BSE Smallcap gained21.33 points or 0.30% at 7,133.73 at the closing.The major losers in the BSE Midcap were Anant Raj Industries (1.89%), Allcargo Logistics (1.66%), ABG Shipyard (1.33%), Amtek Auto (0.45%) and Andhra Bank (0.19%).The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Aarti Industries (1.1%), Wagend Infra Venture (0.88%), Reliance MediaWorks (0.85%), Styrolution ABS (India) (0.14%) and Trident (0.11%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Consumer Durables index was at 7,199.45, up by 49.75 points or by 0.70%. The major gainers were C.Mahendra Exports (9.8%), Whirlpool Of India (0.99%), Bajaj Electricals (0.83%), Gitanjali Gems (0.41%) and Blue Star (0.39%).
The Capital Goods index was at 11,052.75, up by 72.26 points or by 0.66%. The major gainers were Bharat Electronics (2.12%), Larsen & Toubro (1.32%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.92%), Alstom India (0.85%) and AIA Engineering (0.27%).
The FMCG index was at 5,823.20, up by 33.09 points or by 0.57%. The major gainers were Godrej Consumer Products (2.77%), Tata Global Beverages (0.99%), I T C (0.88%) and United Spirits (0.35%).
On the other hand, the Realty index was at 1,809.70, down by 12.44 points or by 0.68%. The major losers were DLF (3.49%), Sobha Developers (2.2%), Phoenix Mills (2.05%) and Anant Raj Industries (1.89%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,369 advances against 1,563 declines.
