Indian equities pared some of its gains in the post noon tradeon
Thursday.In early trade, Sensex surpassed 21,000 level for first
time since November 2010. Banks, consumer durables, capital goods
stocks led the rally. On the other hand, IT stocks witnessed a
fall. At 1:04 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 144.71 points or
0.70% at 20,912.59 with 23 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty
was trading higher by 32.35 points or 0.52% at 6,210.70 with 41
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened flat with a
decline of 1.83 points or 0.01% at 20,766.05, while the broad based
NSE Nifty started with a fall of 15.55 points or 0.25%, at
H D F C Bank contributed rise of 29.75
points in the Sensex. It was followed by I C I C I Bank (27.45
points), I T C (19.73 points), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation
(18.99 points) and Larsen & Toubro (17.4 points).
However, Tata Consultancy Services contributed fall of 11.56
points in the Sensex. It was followed by Wipro (5.15 points), ACC
(0.7 points), Hindalco Industries (0.49 points) and Reliance
Communications (0.48 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Mahindra & Mahindra
(2.54%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (2.06%), Bharti Airtel
(1.95%), H D F C Bank (1.80%), Larsen & Toubro (1.66%), and I C
I C I Bank (1.64%).
On the other hand, Wipro (1.76%), Coal India (1.06%), Tata
Consultancy Services (1.05%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1%), Cipla
(0.60%), and Hindalco Industries (0.30%) were the major losers in

The Bankex index was at 12,596.66, up by 176.97 points or by
1.42%. The major gainers were Bank Of Baroda(3.25%), Federal Bank
(2.42%), Bank Of India (2.4%), H D F C Bank (1.8%) and Canara Bank
The Consumer Durables index was at 5,986.22, up by 83.85 points
or by 1.42%. The major gainers were Gitanjali Gems (4.53%), Blue
Star (2.61%), Titan Industries (1.84%), Bajaj Electricals (1.28%)
and Rajesh Exports (0.64%).
The Capital Goods index was at 9,037.11, up by 107.52 points or
by 1.20%. The major gainers were A I A Engineering (2.09%), F A G
Bearings India (1.2%), BEML (1.03%), A B B India (0.39%) and Bharat
Heavy Electricals (0.32%).
On the other hand, the IT index was at 8,409.98, down by 55.05
points or by 0.65%. The major losers were H C L Technologies
(3.18%), Wipro (1.76%) and Tata Consultancy Services (1.05%).
Market breadth was negative with 1,229 advances against 1,041

Yes Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of
Rs. 355.98 million. It was followed by United Breweries (Rs. 311.47
million), State Bank Of India (Rs. 279.89 million) and I C I C I
Bank (Rs. 271.97 million).
The volume chart was led by Suzlon Energy with trades of over
7.05 million shares. It was followed by Unitech (2.84 million),
Spicejet (2.81 million) and Cals Refineries (2.67 million).
