Indian markets remained lower in noon trade on Friday.At 12.10
pm, the Sensex was trading down 76.22 points or 0.38% at 19,817.63
with 17 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower
by 11.40 points or 0.19% at 5,870.85 with 27 components
I C I C I Bank contributed fall of
39.57 points in the Sensex. It was followed by H D F C Bank (24.68
points), Housing Development Finance Corporation (16.05 points), I
T C (14.63 points) and Bharti Airtel (9.07 points).
However, Reliance Industries contributed rise of 13.06 points in
the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Consultancy Services (8.31
points), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (7.54 points), Larsen &
Toubro (4.79 points) and Hero Motocorp (3.91 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Hero Motocorp
(2.15%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.63%), Tata Consultancy
Services (0.80%), Reliance Industries (0.77%), Bajaj Auto (0.63%),
and Tata Power Company (0.61%).
On the other hand, ICICI Bank (2.50%), Bharat Heavy Electricals
(2.13%), Bharti Airtel (1.87%), Tata Steel (1.67%), H D F C Bank
(1.58%), and Hindustan Unilever (1.42%) were the major losers in
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger
counterparts gaining 0.44% and 0.73% respectively. The major
gainers in the BSE Midcap were A B G Shipyard (12.6%), CORE
Education and Technologies (4.98%), Allcargo Logistics (1.28%),
Aban Offshore (0.54%) and Amara Raja Batteries (0.46%).The major
gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Genesys International Corporation
(3.06%), Ahluwalia Contracts (India) (2.25%), Aarti Industries
(1.75%), Advanta (0.74%) and Dr Datsons Labs (0.71%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Oil & Gas index was at 8,427.46, up by 77.53 points or
by 0.93%. The major gainers were Bharat Petroleum Corporation
(8.3%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (3.75%), Indian Oil
Corporation (3.49%), Oil India (1.07%) and G A I L (India)
The IT index was at 7,882.76, up by 53.36 points or by 0.68%.
The major gainers were H C L Technologies (2.19%), Hexaware
Technologies (1.42%), Mphasis (0.92%), Infosys (0.26%) and Oracle
Financial Services Software (0.16%).
On the other hand, the Bankex index was at 11,338.62, down by
156.03 points or by 1.36%. The major losers were I C I C I Bank
(2.5%), H D F C Bank (1.58%), Bank Of Baroda (1%), Bank Of India
(0.39%) and Federal Bank (0.18%).
Market breadth was positive with 1,079 advances against 829
Value and Volume Toppers
Tata Motors topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of
Rs. 280.40 million. It was followed by Hindustan Unilever (Rs.
271.40 million), Yes Bank (Rs. 256.27 million) and State Bank Of
India (Rs. 237.45 million).
The volume chart was led by Texmaco Infrastructure and Holdings
with trades of over 5.56 million shares. It was followed by Tata
Teleservices (Maharashtra) (3.79 million), Kingfisher Airlines
(2.97 million) and Karuturi Global (1.76 million).
