Indian equities continued to trade flat towards the close on
Friday. Realty, capital goods and auto stockstraded lower while IT
gained. At 3.10 p.m., the Sensex was trading down 16.55 points or
0.08% at 20,708.88 with 21 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty
was trading lower by 5.05 points or 0.08% at 6,159.30 with 39
Larsen & Toubro contributed fall of 20.58 points in the
Sensex. It was followed by Hindustan Unilever (14.25 points),
Mahindra & Mahindra (13.52 points), Bharti Airtel (9.57 points)
and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (8.35 points).
However, Tata Consultancy Services contributed rise of 31.61
points in the Sensex. It was followed by H D F C Bank (12.58
points), Infosys (9.97 points), Reliance Industries (6.22 points)
and NTPC (6.02 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Consultancy
Services (2.91%), Wipro (2.06%), NTPC (1.57%), H D F C Bank
(0.77%), Infosys (0.70%), and Reliance Industries (0.35%).
On the other hand, Hindalco Industries (4.41%), Tata Steel
(2.79%), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.55%), Hindustan Unilever
(2.14%), G A I L (India) (2.08%), and Bharat Heavy Electricals (2%)
were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps underperformed their larger
counterparts declining -0.34% and -0.44% respectively.The major
losers in the BSE Midcap were Allahabad Bank(2.8%), A B G Shipyard
(1.5%), Alstom India (0.8%), Aban Offshore (0.76%) and Allcargo
Logistics (0.05%).The major losers in the BSE Smallcap were Dr
Datsons Labs (1.51%), Action Construction Equipment (1.32%), Aarti
Industries (0.51%), Styrolution ABS (India) (0.43%) and Trident
Sectors in Limelight
The Realty index was at 1,327.40, down by 27.29 points or by
2.01%. The major losers were D L F (4.65%), Anant Raj (2.42%),
Housing Development and Infrastructure (1.55%), Indiabulls Real
Estate (1.02%) and Godrej Properties (0.07%).
The Capital Goods index was at 8,881.11, down by 151.01 points
or by 1.67%. The major losers were A B B India (3.12%), Bharat
Heavy Electricals (2%), Bharat Electronics (1.25%), BEML (1.06%)
and Alstom India (0.8%).
The Metal index was at 8,984.88, down by 101.42 points or by
1.12%. The major losers were Hindalco Industries (4.41%), NMDC
(3.71%), Hindustan Zinc (1.45%), Jindal Steel & Power (1.02%)
and Coal India (0.48%).
On the other hand, the IT index was at 8,442.87, up by 127.62
points or by 1.53%. The major gainers were Tata Consultancy
Services (2.91%), H C L Technologies (2.46%), Wipro (2.06%),
Infosys (0.7%) and Tech Mahindra (0.05%).
Market breadth was negative with 983 advances against 1,426
Value and Volume Toppers
Just Dial topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of
Rs. 765.74 million. It was followed by I C I C I Bank (Rs. 653.13
million), KSK Energy Ventures (Rs. 517.09 million) and Tech
Mahindra (Rs. 435.28 million).
The volume chart was led by KSK Energy Ventures with trades of
over 7.69 million shares. It was followed by Suzlon Energy (6.27
million), Dish TV India (3.63 million) and A2Z Maintenance &
Engineering Services (2.67 million).
