Indian equities continued to trade shaply lower on Monday
tracking weak rupee. The rupee fell as much as 62.45 to the dollar
in early trades, breaching the previous low of 62.03 hit on Friday.
Auto, banking and healthcare stocks led the decline.
At 12.01 pm, the Sensex was trading down 207.61 points or 1.12%
at 18,390.57 with 21 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was
trading lower by 74.30 points or 1.35% at 5,433.55 with 36
I C I C I Bank contributed fall of
51.45 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Mahindra &
Mahindra (21.86 points), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (21.44
points), H D F C Bank (19.69 points) and Bharti Airtel (17.51
However, Infosys contributed rise of 10.22 points in the Sensex.
It was followed by Tata Steel (9.17 points), Sterlite Industries
(India) (5.13 points), Tata Consultancy Services (5.07 points) and
Hindalco Industries (4.25 points).

Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger
counterparts declining-0.89% and -0.61% respectively.The major
losers in the BSE Midcap were CORE Education and Technologies
(4.89%), Alstom India (2.67%), Aban Offshore (1.22%), A B G
Shipyard (0.52%) and Allahabad Bank (0.51%).The major losers in the
BSE Smallcap were Action Construction Equipment (7.54%), A2Z
Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.4%), Aarti Industries
(0.84%), Trident (0.22%) and Styrolution ABS (India) (0.07%).

The Auto index was at 10,299.66, down by 320.07 points or by
3.01%. The major losers were Mahindra & Mahindra (4.64%), Bajaj
Auto (4.42%), Hero Motocorp (3.69%), Cummins India (2.7%) and Exide

2.56%. The major losers were Bank Of Baroda(7.83%), Bank Of India

Tata Steel topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of
Rs. 318.35 million. It was followed by State Bank Of India (Rs.
293.81 million), Yes Bank (Rs. 241.00 million) and United Spirits
(Rs. 214.10 million).
