China is set to be counted amongst other major countries fuelling breakthrough innovations in the field of IT thus proving to be a major challenger to Silicon Valley in the US, according to a KPMG survey.
The survey consisted of 668 respondents located across the world working in technology companies and has thrown up some very interesting figures.
For example, only 39% of the US respondents selected the US as most promising in terms of technical innovations, while 71% in China selected China. India was cited as the future epicenter of innovation by 13% of the respondents.
“China’s anticipated parity with the US tech sector shows the challenge facing the US to retain its position as an innovation leader,” noted Gary Matuszak, partner, global chair and the US leader for KPMG’s Technology, Media and Telecom practice.
The provision of Cloud-based services which are used widely in many countries including India by companies and governments for e-governance initiatives was felt by a majority of the respondents to be the ‘next big thing’ in technology. Thirty per cent of respondents felt that Cloud SaaS would be an important part of consumer technology in the coming years and would drive large scale transformation in business practices.
